Keeping your skin hydrated is one of the best ways to fight off dryness during the winter months, and according to skincare expert Scott McGlynn, a good moisturiser doesn’t have to break the bank. Scott, who is the host of Celebrity Skin Talk, shared his top five affordable moisturiser recommendations for winter with his audience of 266k followers on Instagram.
He explained: “Face moisturisers are very important and these are the ones I recommend for keeping your skin hydrated.” Scott’s most expensive recommendation is Lano’s Face Base Day Cream with Vitamin E which retails for £20. “This is very juicy, very thick, I absolutely love it,” he said. “I use it for my lips as well.”
His next recommendation is Elf’s Holy Hydration face cream which retails for £12 on Beauty Bay. According to Scott, the fragrance-free cream is “literally very affordable”.
The moisturiser is described as a “lightweight” option which “helps to nourish and plump the skin while delivering lasting hydration”.  The Elf moisturiser is a great all-around option as it can be used in the morning and after cleansing at night.

For products under £10, Scott recommends the Revolution Skincare Ceramides Moisture Lotion which costs £9.00. Scott said: “This can be used all over the body as well, not just on the face. I really love this product. I’ve been using it for a few months now and my skin is feeling great.”
Revolution Skincare’s Ceramides Moisture Lotion is vegan and cruelty-free and contains hyaluronic acid which works to bind water into the skin for a hydrating effect.
Although the Revolution moisturiser is an affordable option, Scott also revealed two of his go-to products both of which cost less than £5. Primark‘s Nourishing Face Moisturiser is a purse-friendly £4 and offers a “hydration boost” for your face.
Scott said: “This Primark one, a very rich and thick moisturiser, this is what the skin needs.”

Speaking previously to Express.co.uk about his experience using the low-cost cream, Scott said: “I have recently been testing the Lidl Cein cream RRP £1.49 and I’m not disappointed, I can really feel the hydration, and my skin is left feeling fresh and radiant after using it.
“I did a test using this cream against a £69.00 cream and I found that it does the same job. In fact, the Lidl cream went further and my skin felt more moisturised.”
Scott’s recommendations have been backed up by his viewers who shared their own experiences using some of the moisturisers. BBC presenter Ionica commented on Scott’s video saying: “The Q10 is my friend! Lurve this one.” [SIC]
