“Euphoria” viewers might have noticed a few major changes for season two — including somewhat toned-down makeup.
The HBO show’s makeup department head Donniella (Donni) Davy told Us Weekly that this season’s more subtle beauty aesthetic was largely due to director Sam Levinson’s request for “no foundation” and “really dewy skin.”
“My department learned how to make the skin look really, really polished and fresh [without a full face of foundation] by using illuminating liquid skin products, like a drop of foundation and concealer to spot-treat,” Davy said.
Because the actors were showing off their bare skin, Davy had to find a product that would smooth skin onscreen without appearing unnatural. Cue Indeed Labs’ Nanoblur Cream ($19.99), a clear product that acts like a real life Instagram filter.
Nanoblur “instantly blurs and filters skin, minimizing the look of enlarged pores, shine, wrinkles, blemishes and crow’s feet while leaving skin with a silky-smooth finish,” according to the brand’s website and has become so incredibly popular with fans of the show and beauty influencers that it’s currently sold out at Ulta.
British Beauty journalist Laura Capon received more than 600,000 views when she tested the product on TikTok. “It hasn’t taken away all the shine but I’m guessing that’s the point, that it’s going to take away excess shine but still leave you with a very natural finish, ‘cause obviously real skin isn’t flat,” she explained.

Of course, fans have been recreating looks from the Drake-produced show since it premiered in 2019 and Davy and her team even won the Emmy for Outstanding Contemporary Makeup for their work on the show.
And while this season hasn’t had quite the same amount of sequins, it’s highlighted the characters experimenting with their appearances, from Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) emulating Maddy (Alexa Demie) with winged liner to Lexi (Maude Apatow) embracing a signature red lip.
No Euphoria look would be complete without a handful of glitter. The cast uses vegan, cruelty-free brand Lemonhead LA, with Jules (Hunter Schafer), Rue (Zendaya), Maddy and Cassie all having worn the brand that’s also been seen on sparkle-loving celebrities including Lady Gaga and Halsey.
If you can’t get enough of the glitter and glam even though the second season is over (leaving viewers to wait until 2024 to find out what happens to Fezco), there’s more to come.
Davy recently announced her own beauty line, Half Magic Beauty, in partnership with A24 and the creators behind “Euphoria.”
