Patrick Ta Drops His Skin Care Routine – Yahoo Life

Patrick Ta has done some of the most famous makeup looks in Hollywood—his clients include Gigi and Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Camila Cabello, and Alexandra Daddario, to name a few—but even the king of glam knows that makeup can only do so much if you don’t care for your skin.
“Skin is the foundation to your whole entire face, so I think it’s super important to invest in skin care,” Ta tells Glamour. “Without great skin care, you can never have great makeup.”
So no matter how gorgeous your glam may be before bed, Ta reiterates: “You need to take time to remove your makeup and cleanse your skin at the end of the night.” And of course, wear SPF; but more on that below.
Ta’s other non-negotiable secret to success? Making lists and planning in advance, which is why he was inspired to partner with commerce platform Rakuten ahead of the holiday shopping season. “When it comes to creating beauty looks and holiday shopping, it’s important to prepare for the best outcome,” Ta says of their similarities. “I make lists, so I know exactly what products I need to achieve my target beauty look I am creating, just like I make a detailed list before I begin my holiday shopping.”
This year Ta is letting everyone in on his beauty-shopping expertise, sharing his holiday gift picks exclusively on the commerce platform. “It includes beauty picks to make you feel beautiful in your own skin, and some of the things I’ll be buying myself for the holidays. This way others can have inspiration and feel less stressed as they begin their holiday shopping,” he says of his selection, which includes his own cult-favorite products like Patrick Ta Beauty eye shadow palettes and creme and powder blush duos, plus essential skin care stocking stuffers like ice rollers.
Decreasing stress is a priority for the makeup guru, since the end of year can be so emotionally taxing for many reasons. “During the holidays, it’s important for me to take time for myself and make sure I am able to recharge in order to feel inspired and creative,” he says, pointing to full-body skin care regimens, taking time off of work, and spending time with family and friends as some of his favorite ways to unwind. “Shopping is also another way I relieve my stress, and I love using platforms like Rakuten because I can shop for my entire holiday list and still shop for myself…which definitely counts as self-care.”
We couldn’t agree more; especially because Ta’s list includes luxurious Aesop hand wash, best-parent-gift nominee TheraFace Pro, and the infamous Dr. Dennis Gross LED Mask. Santa, are you taking notes? We sure hope so.
Ahead, Patrick Ta shares more of his favorite skin care products for Glamour’s Drop the Routine.
